ABOUT US

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Cubic One Construction Ltd is a building and refurbishment contractor with offices in Hertfordshire and North London, providing professional building services within London and the Home Counties, operating across all sectors of the building industry.

With over 30 years of experience under our belts within the construction industry originating from previous trades-based companies which focused on small to medium residential building works progressing over time to incorporate more complex and diverse building projects.

As a recognition of this change in business strategy, Cubic One Construction Ltd was established combining two very experienced companies,

Wiggs Carpentry & Building Ltd & MC Construction & Electrical Contractors Ltd.

Since the formation of the new company, our reputation has gone from strength to strength with over 95% of our projects originating from either referrals or repeat business.  We pride ourselves not only on the quality of our work, but also on the high level of client service, professionalism, expertise and aftercare that we deliver.

Combining the skills of our hands-on directors and the talents of our tradespeople, we provide a personal approach to every project we complete enabling us to develop long term relationships with our clients.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How can I be sure I've found a good building contractor?
Recommendations and references are good ways to find reliable contractors who will do a good job. If you can't get personal recommendations from people you know and trust, then ask for references. It is best to get 2 or 3 recent examples of similar work they have carried out and the contact details for the people they did the work for. They will be a member of the Federation of Master Builders as all companies have been fully vetted and their works verified.
  • Do I need to apply for planning permission or building control approval?
If you are converting an existing building or loft conversion, then there is a good chance that you won't need planning permission as these works can be carried out under permitted development but you will still need building control approval. If you are building something new or making a major change to a building then you will most probably need planning permission and the easiest way to do this is to check with a local architect or refer to Planning Permission Advice.
  • Do I need to have a written contract in place before any building work commences?
Yes, as soon as you give a contractor the go-ahead, you have made a contract with them even if it's not written down. Make sure you get a contract in writing beforehand so both parties can agree upfront what is included and what isn't.
  • What about insurance policies?
Reputable building contractors will have Public Liability and Employers' Liability insurance in place so ask to see a copy of their certificates for your peace of mind. If you have home or contents insurance then you will need to contact them to check that you will be covered during the duration of the work. Your insurer will probably want to know what contractor you're using and what insurance they have.
